The New Year’s event started as a way for international students to experience the New Year. At first, it was just pounding mochi, but as we were thinking about the plan, it became more fun, and we ended up with a lot of fun, including karuta, sweet potatoes, lucky laughs, fortune telling, votive tablets, and calligraphy. Despite the difficult preparations, the event was a great success thanks to the cooperation of the local residents’ association.
